                           CHAPTER-1:1:1 (NEW IMMIGRANTS)-DAY-1

Eli Jankowsky arrived at the new house with her husband Ami after they'd spent nearly all of their remaining cash on buying the place to check it out and they loved what they saw because the lot was bigger than they expected it to be.
They never thought they'd get such a big lot with their tiny shanty house and it was more than they could ever have hoped for in the old country with the crushing poverty they lived with before they'd left. They both grew up in poverty and didn't want that for their kids or they'd just stay and get on with life.Eli felt that living under the crushing poverty and trying to start a family like that wasn't an option.
The Jankowskys had looked into towns back east and found they were all filling up and most didn't have larger lots left without them having big expensive mansions already on the lots and nothing else except for tiny starter homes and they'd have to wait for a larger place to come available before they could move to anything bigger to start their family.
The house on their lot was no better than they'd get in the old country if they were lucky to even find a house and it would've been on a tiny lot unlike this one on it's large farming lot.Eli loved that they had the room to expand their house to get more space instead of having to move into a bigger place.
Eli and Ami both remembered the childhoods living in poverty and growing up together as best friends before they fell in love as they got older. The parents in both families had always had hopes of owning land and being able to farm their own lots to earn money instead of taking jobs.
They both felt that they'd made the best decision they could possibly have made and it was going to give them the best possible future for their kids. The farm could pass onto the next generation and they'd pass the land onto one of their kids. They intended to have generations of their family living in Gibsons and each new generation started the next one.
Eli went over to the Mountain Road Garden House to start studying gardening from a skill book to learn how to garden since she'd never gotten to learn any skills before immigrating.Ami went to the town center Garden House and was doing the same thing there because he'd never gotten to learn any skills either and they both wanted to start building the skills up.
Their studying was looking like it would end up taking most of the day and they weren't going to get to earn much for their time.Ami ended up sitting outside to study the gardening skill from the book in the hot summer weather.
Eli was busy learning the basics about gardening from a skill book and thinking about the past while she was studying. There was never any chances for them to study back home to learn the needed skills to get anywhere on the jobs they'd had to take so they would've been stuck unable to get anywhere without immigrating to a new country.
She still remembered the dark days back home when they were just struggling to earn enough to not starve to death or sleep in the streets. That looked like it wasn't too likely to happen in their new country and they'd be looking to start their family once they saved up enough cash.
Ami who was studying gardening at the town center's Garden House was also aware of the difference in their lives after immigrating and coming out west to settle in Gibsons. He was more than willing to work on the skills and study for long hours like Eli was herself to make sure they could garden effectively and be faster at it.
They were studying for most of that first day with a few breaks for meals and trips to the washrooms to take care of that until they both decided to try out some gardening for a short while after they stopped studying. The studying stopped at about 4PM when they got tired of it and wanted to stop.
Eli got to work and did a little in the garden at the Mountain Road Garden House before having to stop for dinner and another visit to the washroom.Ami was doing the same at the town center Garden House and he also did very little gardening before having to stop and sell what he got at the store.
They both made just 300$ together from the harvest and got home to try to get settled in for the evening. It was 7PM when they got home and were both ready for dinner. They could both remember having to buy food at diners back home because the room they were able to rent had no kitchen and no fridge either and fridges weren't allowed.
They both got salad ready to eat at 7PM and it started getting dark outside at that time as they were preparing their food and starting to eat. They felt it was a luxury to finally be able to fix their own meals and eat at home. They had no idea that it was normal and that how they lived before wasn't usual.
Eli and Ami both had to use the sleeping bags to sleep in and Eli had to move hers before she could use it because it was in the wrong place. They were both asleep by 8PM and would look to get up early.
