TOWN LIFE IN GIBSONS-INTRODUCTION

CHAPTERS

                                                                INTRODUCTION

There was a trading fort located near where the town of Gibsons would one day be established built in 1845 to serve those heading north to Alaska and the north coast areas like the Yukon for hunting trips. The trading post thrived for 15 years and one day disaster struck with a terrible drought and a bad lightening storm which set the forest on fire and it got out of control.
The area was deserted and remained that way for a year until they decided to rebuild the trading fort and build a civil services center on the lot they out aside as a civic plaza. They also planned on putting a hospital there as well.
There was a graveyard being put into Gibsons for when any settlers to move there eventually died of old age or any others died in accidents. They made that decision because they knew others would settle there one day and need it to be a functional town before too long. They planned on building the town up gradually over time and not populating it too fast which would be hard to get newcomers there because of the isolated location.
They would also have to consider a home world high school if there are to be any high school graduates because the high school world might be too far for them to attend there.
The Gibsons Shopping Plaza before the fire destroyed the township didn't have the theature and that was going to have to change in the future when they decided to upgrade it though they were forced to rebuild it after the fire and wanted to make some changes in the rebuilt plaza. The changes made included adding the theature to the plaza and spreading everything out over the full width of the lot.
Gibsons was busy rebuilding after the fire and it was destined to become a settled town with a small population to start with. That would slowly change over time as the town grew bigger.
The town of Gibsons was started as a trading post because of it's convenient location for those traveling up the coast from California to Alaska needing places to stop for supplies.
The administrative plaza was st up for things like a traveler getting sick or having been involved in a crime and needing to report it to get the criminal caught. They also had to have that administrative office there in case a ship got attacked by pirates and needed help or got caught in a storm at sea and had to report it.They could also have to report things like having found criminals on board the ship to be turned in.
The civic plaza area ended up getting a hospital for when travelers might be sick or injured and need care before continuing their journey and some of them would end up deciding to stay and settle down in Gibsons after getting help there.
They also had a science center for any discoveries made on the journey by passing ships so they could find out what they'd discovered. It was also there for local discoveries made by travelers and new settlers who'd found something interesting and wanted to know more about it.It included finding new insects.
There's a beach area and Land where a lot can get placed for a new family moving into town when it needs to be done.It was part of the plan to allow the town to grow as needed and the layout will change over time. The town's beach is also a place to get built when it's time to build that up and it can be a great place for family outings one day.
This was mainly planned for travelers making a stopover who needed to have places to stay and things to do while they were stopping over for a short time and ships did sometimes stop for repairs when they got storm-damaged.
