             CHAPTER-31-SG-Y-1-D-31-45 (FIRST WINTER)     

     Tad and Cody Olson had found the first day of winter in 1865 to be a mild day though they had to start wearing winter clothing because it was winter and the outdoor pools were closed for the season.They had locked the gates up so nobody would be able to get into the pool if they were foolish enough to want to go swimming in the winter and the ice cream truck was gone and wouldn't return until spring started.

    It was a warm sunny day in Gibsons for the town's residents on that first day of winter and they all wanted to see a new community pool get built in town and it had to be an indoor pool.They didn't mind if it looked like it was an outdoor pool and felt like it.The Olsons were playing chess outside for a while and both knew they'd need a workshop if they wanted to continue playing chess through the winter season.

    There was some frost on the ground and it was a little colder over the next few days of winter as the weather started shifting into winter weather patterns.It was looking like there might be some snow coming that winter and the residents were already switching to warmer outerwear as it began to get even colder during those first three days of winter.They were also planning to use snowsuits for outerwear soon.

    The Olsons were anxious to get a workshop built before winter snows came and blocked off any further construction until spring.They did get something built and had decided to start making use of it right away after getting it built to start growing an indoor garden.They had made it to the third day of winter and expected to get through the next day without any snow though it was starting to get colder and was getting damp.

    Everybody living in the town of Gibsons had been starting to dress warmer for winter weather though their outerwear wasn't for snow conditions because that had not happened yet.Tad had gone to the library a few evenings to play while Cody was at work and stayed out a little late once.It was getting to be very cold and damp out by the time the evening of the third day arrived and it remained the way the next day.

    The fourth day of winter dawned very cold and damp with thick frost covering the ground and it was clear in the morning though it began to cloud over ad the day progressed into the afternoon.The cold became biting and it got very heavy with clouds and fog started rolling in during the afternoon and early in the evening.Cody went to work and had worried that it would snow while she was at work.

     The town of Gibsons had heavy snow begin to fall and recieved a few feet of snow during that night while they were sleeping.They were going to have to change to snowsuits for their outerwear or be trapped inside until the snow melted in the spring.They were looking foreward to playing in the snow and having fun when they could and at managing to get to work on the days they had to work.

    The residents of Gibsons were waking up each winter morning to heavy snow falling or to sunny weather with deep drifts of snow piled up everywhere in town.The snowstorms would also often come with gale or hurricane force winds and force the residents to take shelter at local hangouts like Garden house or the library at night if the storm hit while they were there at the venue to study or just to hang out.

    Tad had built an igloo one day in the winter while it was snowing so hard that she didn't want to go out anywhere and risk getting stuck out overnight since it had happened to her once already.Cody was often woriied about going to work and being unable to get home if the weather got too bad for her to get home safely.There had been a few mishaps with tourists from China who gotten hurt falling on slippery roads.

     Tad had gone out to the library one evening in late winter and lost track of time until it was 2AM when she suddenly noticed how late it was and started getting ready to head back home.She'd stayed late because there had been a stroing wind earlier that had made it hazardous to head for home and she'd not noticed the wind letting up until very late.Cody had asked her to head home when it was safe.

      The residents of Gibsons woke up one morning a few days later to find it was heavy rain falling on the town and the snow was beginning to get very slushy and was about to start to melt and it was the last day of winter.It was time to get ready to change outerwear for spring once the snow finished melting away for the season.They'd been managing to get to work every day and to get home safely every evening after work.

    It continued raining hard all day after the snow melted and everybody was getting into new outfits for the new season.None of them wanted to be wearing winter gear like snowsuits in the spring after the snow melted away because it would look foolish.The next thing the residents would have to deal with was food going bad in the fridges and the having to eat the spoiled leftovers up to clean it out of the fridge.

    They were all having to eat up the leftovers and wait for produce to be ready for harvest or new shipments to arrive before they could eat fresh meals.They all knew that it was the end of 1865 and that it would be 1866 when they got up the next morning.
